We would like to inform you that effective January 1st, 2026 we will permanently discontinue support of NXS-9700 hardware Rev.2 and NXS-9750 hardware Rev.2 devices. After the date, those hardware models will be officially no longer supported via our Support Center and software updates will be no longer released. The support for the product is being discontinued due to shifts in technology, shortage of electronic components and limited OS support. The NXS-97xx Rev.2 was already replaced by its successors NXS-97xx hardware Rev.3 – Rev.4. Newer technology provides more productivity and greater efficiency in the same applications as the older product. 10 Years of Memories: Celebrating a Decade of Triumphs, Challenges and Growth

Ten years ago, a small company was born in an old building on Zwierzyniecka 20 street. Little did we know, that it would grow to become a world leader in hardware SMS gateways. Today, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of SMSEagle!

The Birth of SMSEagle

SMSEagle brand was founded in 2013, with the goal to fill a market void for a reliable means of automated communication. The company’s mission was from the very beginning to provide quality messaging solutions that are secure, reliable and suited to customers’ needs.

International Reach

Our focus right from the start was on conducting our operations at an international level. Our first customers in 2013 came from countries like the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the USA, New Zealand, and even Mayotte (which is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and the coast of Mozambique). And this was just the start… Over the course of the past decade, our customer base has been expanding globally. Today our devices are working all over the world with customers in over 120 countries and 40 sales partners across the globe. We continuously expand our global footprint and explore new opportunities to bring our expertise to even more markets.

Continuous Improvement

Throughout these years we worked hard to continually improve our devices in all aspects. We continuously revise our existing hardware and release new products that meet their needs and exceed their expectations. So far we have designed and introduced to the market 7 different device models, some of them in 4 hardware revisions. Our software is constantly updated with new features, allowing users to maximize their productivity and expand their automation. We also have gained many product certifications like CE, FCC, ISED, UKCA, PTCRB, IMDA, TDRA, CB Scheme, RCM, and others. we ensure that our customers always have access to the latest and greatest products on the market and that their experience with us is nothing short of exceptional.

We are excited to share important news regarding the evolution of our company and how this change will impact you. We are pleased to announce that on March 1, 2022, the business activity under the name PROXIMUS Radosław Janowski was transformed into Proximus Sp. z o.o.

What does that mean for you?

Due to the transformation, the legal name and the VAT-EU number have changed. The address, bank account numbers, telephone numbers, and e-mail address remain unchanged.

Your contracts and contact persons remain unchanged. The change does not influence the continuation of business activities and the validity of contracts concluded in the past. Proximus Sp. z o.o. takes over all the rights and obligations of the transformed entrepreneur PROXIMUS Radosław Janowski.

Monitoring Switches in Data Centers

MONITORING NETWORK SWITCHES IN DATA CENTERS

Network availability and performance are critical parameters in determining the proper operation of LAN, MAN or WAN. Malfunctions in network switches adversely affect the productivity of companies, therefore their proactive monitoring is an important element in the work of the administrator. Here we provide a short overview of methods used nowadays for monitoring of network switches.

SNMP Protocol

All types of switches can be monitored using SNMP. Monitoring can provide information within the port: port availability status and information about transmitted packets. In addition, we can monitor equipment performance metrics: CPU usage, RAM usage, etc.

NetFlow, sFlow, jFlow Protocols

NetFlow is a Cisco protocol running on the switches of the company, sFlow protocols and jFlow are similar technologies developed by competitors. These protocols provide information about a stream of data flowing through the network devices, providing detailed insight into the performance and network bandwidth. Because the data is pre-aggregated, the use of this protocol is easier than using a packet sniffer.

Packet sniffing : monitoring using the monitoring port 

The outer packet sniffer (usually built into NMS system) examines all network data packets sent through a special monitoring port in a switch. This port in a switch sends a copy of all network packets from different port (or ports) of a switch. Such packets are then analyzed by the NMS system. Out of the three switch monitoring technology, this one creates a highest load on CPU and network. 

NMS system 

The central point of the supervised switches environment is IT infrastructure and network monitoring system (NMS). The system aggregates data from the monitored points, provides powerful capabilities for analyzing and visualizing the information collected, and transmits alerts about incidents and failures.

SMS Alerts as an effective notification of failures 

A key element in the course of automatic detection of an incident or failure is early as possible and effective notification of the occurrence of the event. For this purpose, data center administrators often use SMS channel. Due to the very good responsiveness to SMS messages (incoming SMS is considered a high priority by the customer compared to other channels, type of e-mail, instant messaging) and versatility (SMS does not require any dedicated application) it is an often used channel for sending alerts about incidents or failures. In order to shorten the critical path (minimize number of devices between NMS server and GSM/3G network), one can use hardware SMS gateway with built-in GSM/3G modem. Such device allows to send SMS alert directly from NMS to the GSM network excluding external Internet Service Provider.
